2017 December Board of Review

The Township of Lyndon will hold the 2017 December Board of Review on Tuesday,
December 12th, at 1:00 p.m. to correct Homestead Affidavits, mutual mistake of fact, clerical errors, and poverty exemptions at the Lyndon Township Hall: 17751 North Territorial Rd; Chelsea MI 48118.
The Tuesday following the second Monday in December: Special meeting of the December Board of Review may be convened by the assessing officer to correct a mutual mistake of fact or clerical error. (211.53b). An owner of property that is a "principle residence" or is "qualified agricultural" property on May 1 may appeal to the December board of review for the current year and the immediately preceding year if the exemption was not on the tax roll. 211.78cc (13) and 211.7ee (6).
PA 74 of 1995 authorizes (July and) December Board(s) of Review to hear appeals for poverty exemptions, but not for poverty exemptions denied by the March Board of Review. Applies to current year only (211.7u). (STC Bulletin No. 15/1995.)
House Bill No. 5359 provides that an owner of property may appeal the rescission of a homestead exemption to the July or December Board(s) of Review in either the year for which the exemption is rescinded or the immediately succeeding year.
