LYNDON TOWNSHIP SUMMARY NOTICE OF ADOPTION TO ZONING ORDINANCE: ACCESSORY DWELLING UNITS

SUMMARY NOTICE OF ADOPTION
ZTA19-001 ACCESSORY DWELLING UNITS

 Notice is hereby given that the Township Board for Lyndon Township, Washtenaw County, Michigan adopted amendments to Chapter 2, Sections 2.02; Chapter 3 Sections 3.35; Chapter 4, Section 4.02 and 4.03; Chapter 5, Section 5.02 and 5.03; Chapter 6, Section 6.02 and 6.03; Chapter 7, Sections 7.02 and 7.03; Chapter 8, Sections 8.02 and 8.03; at a regular meeting held on April 14, 2020. Summaries of the amendments are below.

Chapter 2 Definitions

Section 2.02: Added the definition of Accessory Dwelling Units.

Chapter 3 General Provisions

Section 3.35 Accessory Dwelling Units was added. This section includes the intent behind allowing Accessory Dwelling Unit within the Township and regulations regarding accessory dwelling units. 

Chapter 4 W-R Wilderness and Recreation District

Section 4.02 Permitted Land Uses was revised to add Accessory Dwelling Units to the list of the permitted land uses.

Section 4.03 Special Land Uses was revised to add Accessory Dwelling units that do not meet the regulations of 3.36 to the list of allowed special land uses.

Chapter 5 R-R Rural Residential District

Section 5.02 Permitted Land Uses was revised to add Accessory Dwelling Units to the list of permitted uses.

Section 5.03 Special Land Uses was revised to add Accessory Dwelling units that do not meet the regulations of 3.36 to the list of allowed special land uses.

Chapter 6. – R-1 Medium Density Residential District

Section 6.02 Permitted Land Uses was revised to add Accessory Dwelling Units to the list of permitted uses.

Section 6.03 Special Land Uses was revised to add Accessory Dwelling units that do not meet the regulations of 3.36 to the list of allowed special land uses.

Chapter 7 L-R Lake Residential District

Section 7.02 Permitted Land Uses was revised to add Accessory Dwelling Units to the list of permitted uses.

Section 7.03 Special Land Uses was revised to add Accessory Dwelling units that do not meet the regulations of 3.36 to the list of allowed special land uses.

Chapter 8 L-C Lake Conservation District

Section 8.02 Permitted Land Uses was revised to add Accessory Dwelling Units to the list of permitted uses.

Section 8.03 Special Land Uses was revised to add Accessory Dwelling units that do not meet the regulations of 3.36 to the list of allowed special land uses.

A copy of the full text of the new Zoning Ordinance amendments may be inspected or purchased at the Township Offices (17751 N. Territorial Road, Chelsea, MI 48118). The new Zoning Ordinance Amendments will also be posted on the Township’s website at

http://www.twp-lyndon.org/about_us/public_notices.php . The adopted amendment shall become effective 7 days after the notice is published, unless referendum procedures are initiated under MCL 125.3402 within seven (7) days after publication of this notice of adoption. If referendum procedures are initiated, the ordinance shall take effect in accordance with MCL 125.3402.
